Welcome to IWG Tunis! The IWG (International Women's Group), Tunis, is a non-profit organisation for women from around the world, presently residing in Tunisia. Its easy, multicultural atmosphere attracts expat ladies to join the group. We share and enjoy good moments together. We have currently more than two hundred members from 43 countries. The focus of the IWG is to help the expat ladies to settle down in Tunis and feel at home. To achieve this, we have set up many activity groups within the IWG. It enables members to participate in small group activities of their own interest, and share experiences and information about Tunisia and their own nations with other members. Our activities are highlighted by the monthly IWG Coffee Mornings which offer a great opportunity to the members to make friends and explore their new home away from home. Members of the IWG actively participate in charity activities, and organize fund-raising bazaars in spring and winter. The funds raised through these are donated to different Tunisian charities to meet some of their financial needs.

IWG Update (2012JUN25)

Sidi Bou Said, Tunisia         IWG Update

Dear Ladies,

Our IWG's events for the first half year have been completed successfully
by our last coffee gathering at Mövenpick Hotel on June 21, last Thursday.

Looking back at passed six months, we have had many interesting, exciting
and yet meaningful events. We made several charity visits to some Tunisian
charities nearby Tunis and donated part of  our IWG charity fund to support
different charity projects. The IWG Spring Bazaar was a first bazaar which held
in spring time in the IWG Tunis history. Because of the participation from many
of us,  we  achieved  a  remarkable  success.  Our  ongoing  plastic  bottle  cap
collection for wheelchair is another highlight to reflect the spirit of our IWG Tunis.
Some ladies like, Charmaine even went to the La Marsa beach to pick up the caps.
Fiona also gathered all caps from the golf club.  I  had  a  chat  with  Rim at our last
coffee gathering. She said, till now IWG's collection was for sure more than enough
to get one free wheelchair. Isn't it fantastic! Since this event is so enthusiastically
responded by all of us, we will continue to  gather our collection at our next IWG
coffee gathering in September.

As you might know, many IWG members are leaving Tunis for other destinations
in the summer. This means, we will also loss them as good members at IWG Tunis.
I take Sarah Meyer as one of the best examples of those ladies who always being
active and supportive to participate IWG's activities and events. On behalf of entire
IWG Tunis, I say "thank you" sincerely to all of you. IWG Tunis will always remember
your great contributions. Your name will be always mentioned by all of us. I do hope,
you have enjoyed Tunis and the IWG. It is an uneasy moment for me to see friends
leaving....... I wrote this little poem dedicated to those ladies who are leaving us.
Farewell.

Gone with the blue,
blue glass, blue carafe,
and the water inside is also blue.

Gone with the blue,
blue sky, blue mountain, blue sea,
perhaps the air in Tunis is also blue.

Gone with the blue,
don't forget the colour of Sidi BouSaid is also blue.

Gone with the blue,
Sister, your eyes are also blue.
And I know, that must be the reflection of
all blue colours in Tunis.

Gone with the blue,
Bon vogage!

Wish everyone a wonderful summer time and see you all in September!
