Welcome to IWG Tunis! The IWG (International Women's Group), Tunis, is a non-profit organisation for women from around the world, presently residing in Tunisia. Its easy, multicultural atmosphere attracts expat ladies to join the group. We share and enjoy good moments together. We have currently more than two hundred members from 43 countries. The focus of the IWG is to help the expat ladies to settle down in Tunis and feel at home. To achieve this, we have set up many activity groups within the IWG. It enables members to participate in small group activities of their own interest, and share experiences and information about Tunisia and their own nations with other members. Our activities are highlighted by the monthly IWG Coffee Mornings which offer a great opportunity to the members to make friends and explore their new home away from home. Members of the IWG actively participate in charity activities, and organize fund-raising bazaars in spring and winter. The funds raised through these are donated to different Tunisian charities to meet some of their financial needs.

I. New activity groups inside IWG:
Many thanks to all those active ladies with creative ideas, we will have two new groups to accommodate everyone's different interest.

If you are interested in art, quilting, weaving, dyeing fabric, sewing, knitting and crocheting or working with textiles, join the group.  Let us inspire and teach one another.  If you have not done this before come and learn a new skill in the group.

2.  CLASSES FOR OIL PAINTING
On popular demand Sandhya is opening her Studio to Ladies keen on learning oil painting. The course is designed to suit beginners and advanced learners. The focus of the classes will be on painting alla prima but will draw also from traditional methods to strengthen drawing and composition skills and explore the techniques of old masters.

Classes begin on 11 September, Tuesday. Medium of instruction is English but for those speaking French the course will work just as well.

This is also an existing group. This group was initiated by me and successfully running through since 10 months. We invite professional photographer, Ulrich Munstermann as our teacher for photo course, indoor and outdoor photo-shooting exercises. The group is highly appreciated by many members.

Ulrich plans to start a new photo course in September. If you are interested, please contact "iwgtunis@hotmail.co.uk"

III. IWG September Coffee Gathering
Our next coffee gathering is going to be on September 20th, Thursday at 10am at the Palace Hotel, Gammarth.

This is also our first gathering after the summer break. Charlotte de Koch who is our IWG member has volunteered to present us her passion about fiber art. Her presentation topic is going to be "Crossing Lines - The many faces of fiber art". Charlotte told me that she learnt from her grandmother how to sew, knit and crochet when she was only 5-year-old. Now, she loves fiber art. To let more people know about fiber art, Charlotte is going to build up a fiber art group for IWG ladies and share her knowledge and skills with everyone.

Please sign up the coffee gathering with "Sept coffee" in the subject line to "iwgtunis@hotmail.co.uk" before September 17th.

September for some new members is a starting month in Tunis. I take this opportunity to highly welcome all new members and hope, you will enjoy IWG's gatherings and events, know new friends and have an easy start of your new life in Tunis.

Welcome to IWG Tunis!

See you soon,

Meng
