Welcome to IWG Tunis! The IWG (International Women's Group), Tunis, is a non-profit organisation for women from around the world, presently residing in Tunisia. Its easy, multicultural atmosphere attracts expat ladies to join the group. We share and enjoy good moments together. We have currently more than two hundred members from 43 countries. The focus of the IWG is to help the expat ladies to settle down in Tunis and feel at home. To achieve this, we have set up many activity groups within the IWG. It enables members to participate in small group activities of their own interest, and share experiences and information about Tunisia and their own nations with other members. Our activities are highlighted by the monthly IWG Coffee Mornings which offer a great opportunity to the members to make friends and explore their new home away from home. Members of the IWG actively participate in charity activities, and organize fund-raising bazaars in spring and winter. The funds raised through these are donated to different Tunisian charities to meet some of their financial needs.

IWG Update

Dear Ladies,

On April 4th, Janet, Caroline, Charmaine, Robyn, Shelly (and daughter Saanya), Tessa and Elizabeth participated the IWG Charity Visit event. These wonderful ladies visited two charities in Nabeul and Korba. The event was kindly organized by Janet who spent her private time made solid research before the visits and also delivered a visiting report after the visit. Caroline and Charmaine kindly offered driving from Tunis to both places. Janet guided the visit to both charities. Robyn volunteered to translate the Nabeul Charity wish list from French to English. After the visit, Janet, Shelly and Saanya shared their thoughts with some constructive suggestions in the emails.

It was a meaningful and successful IWG charity event. As Janet said in her email, "It was a moving experience for all of us ladies and also for the staff and puples at both centeres." Thank you so much for organizing this great event, Janet! On behalf of IWG, I also want to take this opportunity to say "thank you" to all ladies who participated the charity visit. You supported IWG charity activities by taking your actions! Followed by this successful visit, Janet is working on the details of possible projects for both charities which IWG Tunis could participate by applying IWG's Charity fund. I look forward to keeping everybody updated very soon.

In this week, we will have our IWG Tunis Spring Luncheon gathering at the Sindbad Club Restaurant on Thursday, 18th at 1pm. As usual, it costs 30 dinars pp. Don't miss this great opportunity to treat yourself!  For ladies who wish to join us, please sign up immediately to "iwgtunis@hotmail.co.uk" with "lunch" in the subject line, no later than Tuesday, 16th. I will receive the luncheon menu from Sindbad by today and forward to everyone soon.

On April 26th, Friday, we will organize a visit to the Musical Instrument Workshop inside the Ennejma Ezzahra Palace Museum in Sidi BouSaid. We will have our pleasure to have the Palace Museum Curator, Mr Hentati to be our guide. The highlight of this visit is ended with instrument playing show demonstrated by some local musicians. For ladies who are interested, please sign up to "iwgtunis@hotmail.co.uk" with "workshop" in the subject line before Aril 24th. I will send another email separately to confirm detailed program within this week.

At the end of this issue Newsletter, I attach below a cultural event news kindly forwarded by Annette Steinich to share with all of you. Thanks very much, Annette!
