Welcome to IWG Tunis! The IWG (International Women's Group), Tunis, is a non-profit organisation for women from around the world, presently residing in Tunisia. Its easy, multicultural atmosphere attracts expat ladies to join the group. We share and enjoy good moments together. We have currently more than two hundred members from 43 countries. The focus of the IWG is to help the expat ladies to settle down in Tunis and feel at home. To achieve this, we have set up many activity groups within the IWG. It enables members to participate in small group activities of their own interest, and share experiences and information about Tunisia and their own nations with other members. Our activities are highlighted by the monthly IWG Coffee Mornings which offer a great opportunity to the members to make friends and explore their new home away from home. Members of the IWG actively participate in charity activities, and organize fund-raising bazaars in spring and winter. The funds raised through these are donated to different Tunisian charities to meet some of their financial needs.

IWG Update


Dear Ladies,

Last Thursday, there were almost 50 ladies participated our first coffee gathering after the summer holiday.  We spent a wonderful time together. Among us, there were a couple of new members who were professionals with ability of speaking more than 3 different languages. These ladies are our IWG's new blood. It is a great pleasure to have them on board, I wish them a nice start and have fun at IWG Tunis! 

Here, I would like to share with everyone, particularly with those who were not able to participate the gathering about the subjects which we discussed at our gathering. 

I. Update from IWG activity groups:

Tunis Book Club
This group is headed by Jean who forwarded me the Club's schedule from October to December. In case anybody wishes to join the Book Club, please contact Jean on jean.rodriguezi@btinternet.com

Book Club Schedule from October to Dedember 2013:
October:     Tuesday, 22 October (week after due to Aid)
November: Tuesday, 19 November (third Tuesday of month, no change)
December: Tuesday, 10 December (week before - as many families leave Tunis for the Christmas vacation)



Oil Painting Group
IWG Painting Group headed by Sandhya started its sessions from mid-August. 
Those who have been associated with the Group for a year are now preparing to move towards original works. The new members are excited about their journey with oil paints as their medium. With some members leaving Tunisia, We have open slots on Monday and Tuesday painting sessions. 
Those interested in joining the Painting Group may kindly contact Sandhya at 227 040 78.

The Painting Group will also be organizing 2-day workshops for 'Planned Painting' of still life, landscape/seascape and figures during October, November and December. Please watch this space in the next newsletter for dates and details.

Martine who is heading up the group wrote to me about a new learning group on Monday. There are two French learning groups now. One is on Monday, another is on Friday. Anyone who is interested in learning or improving French, please contact Martine directly on soullezm@gmail.com



Walking Group
I am very pleased to announce that Elke Kreuzwieser is the new Walking Group Head to replace Charmaine who left Tunis in September. Please join me in wishing Elke good luck at her new role. Elke is now also a member at the IWG Management Team. At our gathering, Elke kindly prepared the signing sheet which was successfully attracted 12 ladies to join her group. The schedule of the group is every Monday and Thursday at 9am


Pilatus Group (new)
This is a brand new group which is headed by Gertrud Gzara and Malek Bachhamba. The Pilatus lessons will take place at Gertrud's place in Les Jardins de Carthage. Tuesdays and Fridays from 10am to 11am or Wednesdays from 5pm to 6pm. Anybody who is interested, please contact Gertrud at 98 363 145 directly. 


Golf Group (potential)
Tessa wishes to have some ladies playing golf together. Anybody who are interested in playing golf either at the Golf Residence or in La Soukra,  please contact Tessa at tessa_summers@hotmail.co.uk


Belly Dance Group (new)
Chefia who is heading the group, now offers her place to accommodate your wishes to learn the belly dance. Those who are interested, please contact Chefia directly at 98537449


Besides above IWG activity groups, there are also Mah-Jong Group, Fibre Art Group and Dog-Walking Group. These groups' schedule remains unchanged at moment. The Weight Watch Group has been removed as per request from Eva who was heading the group. 

Fériel was kindly proposed some ideas about organizing visitings and excursions in future which I will discuss and assist her to make these wonderful ideas workable. Thanks Fériel!

Cecilia also called in about an event of olive harvest at Medolea in mid December. I will follow up with actions in October. Many thanks, Cecilia!


II. IWG Christmas Bazaar 
Angela, our organizer for the IWG Bazaar announced, 2013 IWG Christmas Bazaar is going to be held on November 30, Saturday from 9am to 5pm at the Saf Saf Cafe in La Marsa. Please reserve the date and time for our actions. 

As usual, volunteer helpers are most needed and highly welcome! Same as previous years, I will make a duty schedule for ladies who would like to join our services team on the Bazaar day. Any volunteers, please contact me directly at iwgtunis@hotmail.co.uk. A separate email about the IWG Bazaar together with a flyer is going to be followed soon. 


III. IWG Admin
IWG Management Team is urgently looking for a lady who is willing to take over the position as the Admin Support. You will be in charge of new member registration, participating management team meeting and writing minutes, assisting to organize IWG coffee gathering and other events if necessary.
